LOUDONVILLE, NY – It was home sweet home for Siena Swimming & Diving that paved the way for the team's first dual meet of the 2021-22 season. The Saints defeated Assumption, 145-72, to pick up their first win under second year head coach
Brogan Barr in their first home meet since January 2020.

Following losses to Binghamton and MAAC for Niagara to kick off the season, the Green and Gold rebounded to win all but three events on the day, with several big swims coming from underclassmen and veterans alike. The team turned in 14 total best times, with some swims coming in the vicinity of times on the Program All-Time Top-10 List.

Junior
Rory Kalac and freshman
Kylie Carter each won two individual events, with Kalac placing first in the 50 free (24.73) and the 100 free (54.44) and Carter winning the 200 free (2:00.43) and the 500 free (5:24.05), with the latter good for a personal best. The Saints also saw first place finishes from junior
Reilly King in the 1000 free (10:57.76), senior
Isabel Harms in the 200 individual medley (2:16.30), and sophomore
Demi Bobarakis in the 100 butterfly (59.87). The Saints also turned in top performances in the 400-yard medley and 200-yard free relays, with Kalac's anchor split in the 200 free relay turning in at a solid 24.39.

Competing in their first-ever home event, all five of Siena's freshmen posted at least one best time, with
Maddie Buck,
Francesca Coppola, and Carter each turning in two. Buck recorded bests with a third-place finish in the 200 free (2:02.75) and sixth in the 100 fly (1:04.45), while Coppola did so with a third-place finish in the 100 fly (1:01.20), and an eighth-place finish in the 50 free (26.98), and Carter in the 100 breaststroke (fourth, 1:11.10) and the before mentioned 500 free time. Freshman
Shaylea Triller recorded a collegiate best with a second-place finish in the 50 free (25.86), while
Olivia Martin turned in a best with a third-place finish in the 100 breast (1:11.02).

The second of nine scheduled meets on the season also brought best times for veterans, with sophomore
Natalie Colaizzo recording collegiate bests in the 50 free (27.76) and 100 free (59.93). Sophomore
Audrey Shultz did so with an impressive second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.48), while King logged a mark in the 100 free (57.03) for the first time in her collegiate career, good for second place.

Divers
Lydia Delano and
Talia Spenziero also took the board for the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events during the meet, with Delano leading the way with marks of 258.70 and 275.65, respectively, the second just three points off her collegiate best. Spenziero went for collegiate bests in both events, recording a mark of 252.95 in the 1-meter and 253.50 in the 3-meter.
