HAMPDEN, MA – Siena Men's Golf continued its hot start to the Fall 2021 season with another team round under 300 to begin the UConn Invitational at GREATHORSE in Hampden, Massachusetts Sunday.
The Saints shot +11, 299 during the first 18 holes of play to tie for eighth in the 16-team field. Rhode Island (-6, 282) leads after round one, while MAAC counterparts Iona (T-10
th) and Rider (T-13) are also participating. Army West Point's John Heckel, Jr. (-4) leads the field individually.
Senior
Brody Yates led the way for the Green and Gold by shooting +1, 73 with two birdies to tie for 19
th after the first go-around. Juniors
Matthew Ferrari and
Nolan Crowley each went +3, 75 to split for 28
th, while junior
Jack Tobin shot +4, 76 to knot for 43
rd. Freshman
Dan Brooks rounded out the team's five-man competition squad on the par-72, 7,093-yard course with a round of +5, 77 to tie for 55
th.
Round two of the UConn Invitational at GREATHORSE is set for Monday, October 3 at 8:30 AM.
