VESTAL, NY – After waiting 615 days in-between regular season dual meets, Siena Swimming & Diving final took the pool again for action, competing in tri-meet action against Binghamton and MAAC foe Niagara on Saturday at the Saunders Aquatics Center in Vestal, New York.
The Saints dropped head-to-head matchups to the Bearcats by a score of 230-70 and to the Purple Eagles, 227-73. Niagara defeated Binghamton, 160-140. The dual meet against Niagara marked the first of four scheduled meetings against MAAC opponents for the Saints this year.
Siena saw all 23 members of its roster participate in the meet, with 10 underclassmen logging their first regular season dual meet action in Green and Gold. Among the top times that stood out for the Saints was the 50-yard butterfly split swam by sophomore
Demi Bobarakis in the 200-medley relay (26.47), which led the field, and the 100 free split for junior
Rory Kalac which led the field in the 400 free relay (53.49).
The Saints saw the debut of their five freshmen, with
Kylie Carter taking second overall in the 200-yard free with a time of 2:00.02. Both divers took part in both the 1 and 3 meter diving events, with junior
Lydia Delano placing fourth in both. School record holder
Jessica Shine marked her return to the pool after no swimming during the 2020-21 season with a third place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.72).
Siena will be back in action next weekend at the Siena Swim Center in the first of two scheduled home meets during the 2021-22 season, The Saints are set to host Assumption on Saturday, October 16 at 1 PM.
