Anthony Ties Career-Best in Loss to North Dakota

Senior Scores 22 at UHY Center Tuesday Night Against Fighting Hawks

LOUDONVILLE, NY - Senior guard Amari Anthony tied a career-high in points with 22 as the Siena Saints fell at home in the second game of a three-game home stand to the North Dakota Flying Hawks by a final score of 71-63. However, the Saints would force 23 turnovers, extending the Saints streak of forcing 22 or more turnovers to six games.

Anthony scored her 22 points on 9-for-14 shooting from the field, including 2-of-3 from behind the three point line. She also added seven rebounds and four steals to her stat line for the evening. Fifth-year Rayshel Brown scored 19 points, snagging six rebounds and a team-high five steals. Junior Cheyenne Talbot added six points, while Tobulayefa Watts chipped in with five rebounds and three blocks.

North Dakota was led by an 18-point, seven assist night from Kacie Borowicz. Claire Orth added 17 points and six rebounds for the Fighting Hawks, while Maggie Manson scored 16 points, going 4-for-7 from long range. Manson also had five rebounds, three steals, and two assists.

North Dakota would lead from start to finish, as they opened up a lead as large as eight points in the first quarter, holding onto a six-point lead after the first 10 minutes, 18-12. That lead would grow to 12 in the second quarter after a three-pointer from Manson gave North Dakota aa 24-12 advantage. From there, the Saints began to chip away.

A layup from freshman Imani Harris with 49 seconds to play in the second cut the Fighting Hawks lead to just three points. However, back-to-back threes in the final 40 seconds from North Dakota would bounce the lead back out to nine at the half.

The third quarter would be a battle as the Saints picked things up on offense, shooting 50 percent from the field in the 10 minutes, including a perfect 2-for-2 from long range. However, the Fighting Hawks would shoot just over 57 percent in the third as their lead held at 10 going into the fourth. The lead would exgtend out to to 16 with 6:56 remaining. However, that would lead into a 13-4 Siena run that would cut the lead back to six with 2:23 remaining after a three-point play from fifth-year Selena Philoxy. But the Saints wouldn't get closer, with the Fighting Hawks maintaining the lead down the stretch to take the eight-point win.

Siena would outscore North Dakota in the paint 30-24, while also outscoring them on the fastbreak seven to four. Siena defense was once again strong, forcing 23 turnovers.
