NEW BRITAIN, CT – Three Siena swimmers entered or moved up on the program's All-Time Top-10 Performers list Friday, as Siena Swimming and Diving continued weekend competition at the Blue Devil Invite, hosted by Central Connecticut State at the Jack Suydam Natatorium in New Britain, Connecticut.
Following the second day of competition, Saint Francis (PA) now leads the five-team field (422 points), while the Saints remain in fourth place (307 points).
The team compiled 18 best times across five individual events, with freshman Olivia Martin becoming the latest Saint to enter the All-Time Top-10 Performer's list at eighth in the 100 breast thanks to her time of 1:07.05 in the preliminary round. Junior Demi Bobarakis improved upon her fifth place time in the 100 fly by seven hundredths of a second (58.34), while senior Isabel Harms propelled from seventh to fifth in the 100 back with a best time of 58.92.
Both freshmen and upperclassmen alike put forth best times on the day, with freshman Francesca Coppola doing so in the 100 breast (1:13.99) and 100 fly (1:00.36). Seniors Abigail Sheridan (4:45.62) and Sarah Duggan (4:49.72) joined sophomore Emily Sulik (4:46.39) in displaying a personal best in the 400 IM, while junior Elisabeth Balicanta went for a new best in the 100 fly (1:00.17). Classmate Jessica Shine recorded the team's best individual finish on the day during the event, placing third with an impressive mark of 57.53.
More personal bests came during the 200 free, with freshman Kylie Carter leading the way at 1:56.88, just hundredths of a second off the Top-10 Performer's list. Freshman Maddie Buck (1:58.48), junior Rory Kalac (1:58.07), freshman Shaylea Triller (1:58.29) and sophomore Natalie Colaizzo (2:11.24) joined in swimming a personal best during the event. Sheridan went for another best in the 100 back (1:00.88), alongside junior Kristyn Sampath (1:06.31). Sulik represented the Saints in the 100 IM with a mark of 1:02.87.
Siena also took part in a pair of relay events, with the group of Harms, Martin, Bobarakis, and Kalac taking third in the 2oo yard medley relay (1:48.93), and the pairing of junior Reilly King, Buck, junior Lauren Ostrander and Carter finishing fourth in the 800 free relay.
Siena concludes action at the Blue Devil Invite on Sunday, December 5, with preliminary events scheduled for 10 AM and finals set for 5 PM.
