The Siena Women's Tennis team opened it's 2021 spring season on the road against the UConn Huskies. The Saints would fall by a final score of 5-2 against the Big East opponent.
"It wad great to get back to work and get out on the court today," head coach
Jeff Osborn said. "Playing a Big East team to start after a long layover is a tough start but the girls showed today that they can fight hard and play tough. Very proud of what I saw today against a very good UConn team."
The Saints won court two in doubles play with senior
Nanea Perkins and sophomore
Petra Miszczak. The would win their court by a final score of 6-4. However, the Saints would fall in the other courts as UConn took the early 1-0 lead.
Miszczak would earn a point for the Saints in singles play, as she won at #3 singles by a final of 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7) in a bounce back match. Siena would also get a point at #6 singles from
Anastasia Koniaev, who fought back and won in a thrilling match by a final of 4-6, 6-2, 10-8. The other four main lineup spots for the Saints in singles play would fall in straight sets.
The Saints return to action on Saturday, Mar. 28 when they play host to Binghamton at Tri-City Fitness at 5:45 PM.
