Teeing off for the first time in just under a year, Siena Men's Golf finished the weekend in second place at the 2021 MAAC Spring Kickoff in Ocean View, New Jersey. The Saints (+26, 692) trailed only conference foe Rider (+17, 593), and beat out league rivals Fairfield (+32, 608), Iona (+34, 610), and Monmouth (+49, 625) for the runner-up spot.
Siena improved its team score by 10 strokes in day two of play at the par-72, 6,824-yard Shore Gate Golf Club, shooting +8, 296 as a unit. Sophomore Jack Tobin secured a top-three finish in his first action of the season, shooting -1, 71 on Sunday to finish at +2, 146 for third place. Senior Jack Brown tied for eighth place individually at +7, 151 after shooting 75 on day two, while junior Brody Yates shot 77 to land in a split for 11th at +8, 152.
Sophomore Nolan Crowley improved a team-best five strokes in the final day of action, shooting +3, 75 to finish in a split for 16th at +11, 155 on the weekend. Senior Pudge Williams rounded out the team's five-man competition squad with a score of +22, 166 on the weekend for 28th, while sophomore Moritz Weigold shot 75 in the second round while competing as an individual.
Siena will be back in action next week, facing more conference and regional competition at the Peacock Invitational on Monday, March 15. Hosted by MAAC rival Saint Peter's, the tournament will be held at the Foxhollow Golf Club in Branchburg, NJ.
