Golf Teams Complete SHU Spring Invitational

Sophomore Nolan Crowley Placed Second Individually for the Men

Siena Men's Golf took ninth place at the SHU Spring Invitational hosted by Sacred Heart University, while Women's Golf finished 10th at the two-day event at Great River Golf Course in Milford, Connecticut.
 
The men improved their total by seven strokes in the second round, carding 302 to finish with +37, 613 on the weekend. Boston College won the men's side at +5, 581, while MAAC schools Fairfield (3rd), Iona (4th), Monmouth (8th), Saint Peter's (10th), and Manhattan (11th) also participated. Siena scored 328 as a team on the women's side, going for +73, 649 over 36 holes. The eagles also took the trophy for the women (+20, 596), while conference counterparts UAlbany (5th), Quinnipiac (6th), Monmouth (9th), and Fairfield (10th) also took part.
 
Completing a strong start from Sunday's action, sophomore Nolan Crowley carded -2, 70 with six birdies the second time around the par-72, 6,885-yard course to finish as the individual runner-up at -2, 142. The Saratoga Springs, New York native recorded his first-ever top-5 finish and missed out on the top spot in the 72-man field by just one stroke, with Sacred Heart's Saptak Talwar (-1, 141) taking home the medalist finish.
 
Senior Jack Brown (+1, 158) shot +12, 4 on day two to land in a split for 49th, while sophomore Jack Tobin and freshman Jack Hamilton each carded 159 on the weekend to finish in a knot for 52nd. Sophomore Moritz Weigold held a 174 to tie for 69th and round out the Saints' five-win competition squad.
 
Siena's women's squad was led by senior Grace Cuttone, who followed up her team-best round of 79 with an 81 on day two to card 160 on the weekend and tie for 36th. Sophomore Isabella Diaz followed a stroke behind to split for 40th individually, while freshman Margot Osterman tied for 50th at 165. Sophomore Emily Nash and junior Lena Kaufman rounded things out at 168 to tie for 56th place.
 
Both Siena Golf teams will be back in action this weekend for one final tune-up before the 2021 MAAC Championships, with the men returning to the Constitution State to compete at the Hartford/Gillette Ridge Invitational on Sunday, April 18, and the women facing UAlbany and St. John's in a tri-match also on Sunday.
