For the fifth straight season, the Siena Women's Tennis team has clinched a spot in the MAAC Championship. The Saints defeated the Monmouth Hawks by a final score of 4-3, as the Green and Gold also celebrated their Senior Day honoring senior
Kylie Mullaney.
With a win on Sunday, the Saints will become the third seed in the MAAC Championship, while a loss would pit the Saints as the fourth seed.
The day got started strong as they Saints were able to snag the doubles point. Brown and Mullaney led the way with a 6-2 victory on court 1, while the other two courts won 7-5 as Siena swept all three courts gaining the 1-0 lead. In singles play, Brown kept her momentum going with a 6-1, 6-2 win. Courts 2, 3, and 5 would fall in favor of the Hawks before
Shelby Madeiros would take a one-sided 6-2, 6-1 in at Court #6.
The match would come down to Court #4 as
Maanya Viswanath would clinch the match for Siena, winning in three sets by a final score of 6-7 (1), 6-3, 6-4.
The Saints return to action tomorrow, Sunday, April 18 when they take on the Niagara Purple Eagles in their regular season finale starting at 2:15 p.m.
