Women’s Tennis Nails Down Third Straight Win in Season Finale

Saints Will Enter MAAC Tournament as Third Seed

SCHENECTADY, NY - The Siena Women's Tennis team took care of business on Sunday afternoon, as the Green and Gold ended the regular season on a three-game winning streak as they defeated the Niagara Purple Eagles by a final score of 6-1 at Central Park in Schenectady.

With the win, the Saints finish the season in a tie for second in the MAAC, but lose the tiebreaker to the Fairfield Stags. Unofficially, the Saints are slated to play the #3 seed, which would be the Stags.

The Green and Gold would take the doubles point with wins on Courts 2 and 3. The top trio of Meagan Brown and Kylie Mullaney fought to a 7-6 loss on Court 1, before Petra Miszczak and Emma Boggiali stepped up for a 6-0 victory on Court 2. Maanya Viswanath and Shelby Madeiros shut the door with a win on Court 3 by a final of 6-2 to give Siena the 1-0 lead.

With the lead, Siena did not struggle down the stretch as three singles matches, including a huge win by Brown at the #1 spot by a final of 1-6, 6-3, 6-3. Both Miszczak and Viswanath won in straight sets at #2 and #3 singles spots.

Siena concludes their 2020-21 season with a 5-3 overall record, and a 3-2 mark in the MAAC.
