Siena Men's Golf ended its 2021 regular season on a high note on Sunday, taking first place out of three competing teams at the Hartford/Gillette Ridge Invitational at the Gillette Ridge Golf Club in Bloomfield, Connecticut. The Saints shot +20, 308 at the 18-hole event to beat out MAAC rival Fairfield by 10 strokes and Trinity College (CT) by 11 on the par 72 course.
Sophomore
Jack Tobin shot Even, 72 to win individual medalist honors on the day, marking the first time he has taken the top spot in his collegiate career and the first time in over two years that a Siena golfer has earned an individual medal. The Southborough, Massachusetts native beat out the next best performance by three strokes.
Junior
Brody Yates also turned in a career performance, carding +5, 77 to tie for third place individually. Freshman
Jack Hamilton shot +7, 79 to take sixth, while senior
Pudge Williams went +8, 80 to tie for seventh. Sophomore
Matthew Ferrari rounded out Siena's five-man competition squad by placing 16
th with +11, 83.
Siena's team title marked the first time since winning the MAAC Championship in 2016 that they have captured a title and the first time since the 2007-08 campaign that they have done so during the regular season.
Siena will look to take momentum from last weekend into the 2021 MAAC Men's & women's Golf Championships, which are set to be held next weekend at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
