LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Swimming & Diving took the pool at the Siena Swim Center for its first officially sanctioned competition of the 2020-21 season Sunday afternoon, racing for top times at the first Siena Classic Time Trials.

The Saints, who were unable to compete at the 2021 MAAC Virtual Meet, took part in a 13-event inter-squad meet that featured two diving events and 17 total participants. The meet also served as an early tune-up for the approaching 2021-22 season, where traditional dual meet competition is anticipated.

Siena swimmers logged seven total personal best times, including three times that allowed swimmers to enter the program's all-time top-10 performers list.

Sophomore standouts
Lauren Ostrander and
Reilly King kicked off the meet by swimming 1:56.53 and 1:56.74, respectively in the 200 free, good for the fifth and sixth fastest times swam in the conference this year. Junior
Isabel Harms took the top spot in the 100 back with a time of 1:00.58, while sophomore
Maggie Caputo logged a new personal best of 1:04.16. Siena also exhibited best times in the 100 breast, with junior
Sarah Duggan placing first with a new best mark of 1:10.45 and sophomore
Ellie Murphy taking second with a PR of 1:12.58. Junior
Abigail Sheridan swam a time of 2:15.77 in the 200 fly for the 10
th fastest time among MAAC swimmers this year.

One of the breakout times of the meet came from sophomore sprinter
Rory Kalac, who logged a new personal best of 24.21 in the 50 free to land at third on the program's all-time top-10 competitors list and swim the fifth fastest time in the MAAC this season. Harms continued her solid performance on the day by logging the second fastest time this season in the 200 back at 2:08.42. Duggan recorded her second personal best on the afternoon with a 2:30.39 in the 200 breast, good for the fifth fastest in the MAAC this season.

King and Ostrander again faced off in the 500 free, swimming times of 5:13.42 and 5:21.21, respectively, to record the third and ninth fastest MAAC times. Freshman
Demi Bobarakis made a splash onto the all-time top-10 competitors list with a 58.41 in the 100 fly to put her at sixth in both Siena's books and in the conference this season. The swimming portion of the meet was capped by Kalac swimming the sixth fastest time in program history and the conference in the 100 free (53.20), while Caputo (58.08) also grabbed a personal best time.

Siena divers
Lydia Delano and
Talia Spenziero also participated in the meet, with Delano taking part in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, and Spenziero commencing her collegiate career in the 1-meter portion.

Siena will look to use the momentum from the 2021 Siena Classic Time Trials to display success in the upcoming 2021-22 season, which is expected to kick off in the Fall.
