Sacred Heart (1-2) controlled the action in the second half, out-shooting Siena (2-3) 15-3 in the stanza. The Saints held a 5-4 shot margin in the opening half of play. Kelly Medeiros netted the equalizer in the 72
nd minute, while Grace O'Hara scored the game-winner for the Pioneers off a free kick in the 76
th minute.
Borrino staked Siena to an early lead in the 23
rd minute, blasting home a one-timer from the top left corner of the 18 off the third assist in five matches from
Carrie Krohn. Borrino became the seventh different Saint to account for the team's first eight goals this season, with the other tally coming off an own goal.
Brooke Boermeester made seven saves in defeat for Siena, while Elyssa Kipperman stopped four shots for Sacred Heart.
Following a grueling, weather-affected four matches in nine-day stretch, the Saints will now have eight days to prepare to return to action when they host New Hampshire next Thursday, Sept. 9 at 3 p.m.
