The Siena Women's Tennis Team opened up their spring season at the USTA National Tennis Center on Friday afternoon against the St. John's Red Storm. The defending MAAC Champions took their first dual match loss of the season in a 4-0 loss in Flushing.

Laia Giralt had a strong showing at #1 doubles early on despite a 6-4 loss. The Red Storm took a 6-1 win at #2 doubles to steal the first point of the day before moving to singles play. The third doubles match finished tied 4-4 with the Saints up 40-30 before St. John's clinched the point.
In singles, Brown would face #112 nationally-ranked Mouna Bouzgarrou. Siena would also take losses at #3 and #5 singles, with the other matches gaining no result once the Red Storm clinched the win. Fifth-year
Nanea Perkins was battling with a 5-4 second set score before her match would be suspended.
Siena return to the court tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. when they play host to LIU at Tri-City Fitness.
