LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Athletics has amended its spectator policy for at least its next four men's basketball home games at the recently renamed MVP Arena (formally the Times Union Center). The adjusted policy complies with
New York State's mask mandate issued by Governor Hochul on Dec. 10, which was adopted by Albany County effective Dec. 13, and which was recently extended to Feb. 1.
In addition to Siena's current MVP Arena protocols in place, all patrons – regardless of vaccination status – will be required to wear a mask at all times (except when actively eating or drinking) for the Saints' upcoming home games Jan. 9 vs. Fairfield, Jan. 28 vs. Niagara, Jan. 30 vs. Quinnipiac, and Feb. 1 vs. Canisius.
Siena Athletics' amended MVP Arena spectator policy applies to all patrons including staff and media, in addition to fans, with the exception of players, coaches, and bench personnel. Siena Athletics and MVP Arena will continue to monitor both New York State and Albany County guidance for any adjustments to the measure following the Feb. 1 game.
Siena Athletics' current MVP Arena Spectator Policy continues to also include the protocols outlined previously, which require fully vaccinated individuals to provide proof of full vaccination status, and unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals (ages five and older) to provide proof of a negative test upon entry. Unvaccinated children under the age of five may still accompany an adult who has provided either proof of full vaccination status or a recent negative test result.
Full vaccination status is defined as having completed the COVID-19 vaccination series at least 14 days prior to the game, and proof can be presented through paper form, digital application, or the State's Excelsior Pass upon entry. Accepted test results for unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals include an FDA or DOH authorized negative PCR test result collected within 72 hours of the game, or a negative antigen test result collected within six hours of the game.
