LOUDONVILLE, NY – Completing a two-match home stand to begin conference play, Siena Men's Soccer (5-3-2) compiled its fourth shutout of the 2022 season, playing league rival Manhattan (3-3-3) to a scoreless draw at Hickey Field Saturday.
The Saints picked up their second draw of the year and one more point in conference action to give them four over their first two MAAC contests. Siena held a 9-7 shots advantage, while Manhattan attempted four of seven shots on-goal.
The Jaspers held a slight advantage during the first 45 minutes of play, recording three of five total shots and drawing seven corner kicks. Siena responded with a balanced attack in the second period, with several late close calls offensively, which were generated from 18 Manhattan fouls.
Four different Saints attempted a shot on the day, with sophomores Zach Gardner and Jacob Sandun Arachchige-Jensen leading the way with three apiece. Graduate student goalkeeper Greg Monroe recorded four saves in his 13th career shutout in Green and Gold, giving him his fourth program record broken thus far this season.
Siena continues conference play with four of its next five matches on the road, beginning with a trip to Canisius on Wednesday, October 5 at 4 PM.
