LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Men's Golf will take the course for its fifth event of the Fall 2022 season at home Wednesday morning. The Saints will once again play host to sister school St. Bonaventure for the fourth annual Murray Cup event on Wednesday, October 12 at Schuyler Meadows Golf Course in Loudonville, with 18-hole action set to begin at 8:30 AM.
After just narrowly falling to the Bonnies in last year's event, the Saints will look to take a Murray Cup for the first time, with SBU taking a 280-283 18-hole victory in 2021, a 7.5-10.5 win in 2018, and a 5-11 feat in 2017. Last year's event featured Siena setting the program record for low single round and low round vs. par (-6).
After finishing as the 2022 MAAC Runner-Up, Siena has picked up where it left off this season, turning in a team average score of 290.56 through four tournaments of play. The Saints won the Dartmouth Invitational during the final weekend of September, and finished second in the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate to begin the year, with program records broken for low 18 (574) and 36 (552) hole rounds.
All nine members of the Siena roster will be in action on Wednesday, led by senior Matthew Ferrari, who has turned in a team-best average score of 72.44 through nine rounds of play, with five of nine rounds going for par or better. Freshman Austin Giroux has burst onto the scene with an average score of 73.43 through seven rounds, while sophomore Dan Brooks (73.57), senior Nolan Crowley (73.67), and graduate student Brody Yates (73.67) have all held an average of under 74 thus far this season.
