Niagara Snaps Saints’ Three-Match Unbeaten Streak

Women’s Soccer Falls 1-0 in Western New York

Ida Miceli's goal just 4:25 into the contest was the difference as Niagara defeated Siena Women's Soccer 1-0 on Monteagle Ridge. Angela Fini made four saves for Saints who had their three-match unbeaten streak snapped.

Niagara (7-5-1, 4-1-1) held a commanding 23-10 advantage in shots – although shots on target totaled five apiece – as they ran their unbeaten streak to five (4-0-1).

The Purple Eagles registered 15 of their shots in an active first half, and cashed in with the matches lone goal when Miceli blasted home a loose ball in front in the fifth minute. That would be all that Felicia Grufman and the defense would need, as the Niagara keeper made five saves to record the Purple Eagles' fifth consecutive shutout.

Annie Bagnall, Cora Keohane, and Katrina Kurtz paced the Siena (1-8-5, 0-3-3) offense with two shots apiece.

The Saints return home to host new MAAC member Mount St. Mary's for Senior Day Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hickey Field. Siena will honor their five seniors in a special pre-match ceremony at 12:45 p.m.
