Men’s Golf Improves to Continue UConn Invitational

Saints Jumped Two Spots in Second Round

HAMPDEN, MA – A 26-stroke improvement from opening round action allowed Siena Men's Golf to move up two spots following 36 holes of play at the UConn Invitational at GREATHORSE in Hampden, Massachusetts on Monday.

After carding a team round of 318 on Sunday, the Saints went for a stellar +4, 292 in the second go-around to tie for the lowest team round of the day and head into the final day of action in eighth place in the 14-team field at +34, 610.  St. John's (+19, 595) continues to hold the lead, while MAAC counterparts Rider (seventh, +33, 609) and Iona (13th) are also competing.

Freshman Austin Giroux remained inside the individual top-ten with a round of +2, 74 on the par-72, 7,093-yard course to finish the day in eighth place. Graduate student Brody Yates carded an identical score to finish the day in a tie for 17th, while senior Matthew Ferrari's round of -2, 70 included an impressive seven birdies to move him into a split for 35th. Sophomore Dan Brooks finished the round tied for 44th after shooting +2, 74 with three birdies, while senior Nolan Crowley birdied four times to card +5, 77 and tie for 66th.

The Saints will conclude 54-hole action on Tuesday, October 3, with tee times beginning at 8:30 AM.
