Swimming & Diving Opens Home Action Against Sacred Heart

Saints Host First of Record Five Home Meets

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Following three straight road competitions to open the 2022-23 season, Siena Swimming & Diving (4-2) will take the pool at the Siena Swim Center on Saturday afternoon. The Saints will play host to Sacred Heart (0-5) at Noon to begin a program record five home meets this season.

Live coverage of Saturday's meet will be provided with a video stream on Siena All-Access. Live Twitter Updates will also be available by following @Siena_SwimDive on Twitter.

Continuing its best start to a season since the 2015-16 campaign, the Saints opened the year by defeating Assumption and falling to host Rhode Island on October 15, while sweeping MAAC foe Canisius and the University of Rochester in Buffalo on October 22, and winning over Merrimack while falling to host New Hampshire on November 5. Siena was picked to finish fifth in the 2022 MAAC Preseason Coaches Poll, and looks to build upon a sixth-place finish at last year's postseason event, which went down as the program's best MAAC Championship result since 2016.

With Siena posting a 1-1 home record thus far under third year head coach Brogan Barr, the team will become used to swimming in its home facility, with two fall and three winter home events highlighting the Saints' 2022-23 slate. The Green and Gold will also take the pool at home next Saturday against Stony Brook, while using the month of January to play host to Vermont (Jan. 15), Saint Francis (PA) (Jan. 21), and Stonehill (Jan. 28).

Combining 19 newcomers with six freshmen this season, Siena has displayed several times this season that are amongst the top in the league. Senior Rory Kalac currently ranks second in the 50 free (24.26), fourth in the 100 free (53.49), and sixth in the 200 free (1:57.52). Sophomore Kylie Carter is currently fourth in the 200 free (1:56.90), fifth in the 100 free (53.71), and sixth in the 50 free (24.78). Additionally, sophomore Maddie Buck sits in fifth in the league in the 500 free (5:18.71). Siena senior diver Lydia Delano's best 1-meter result ranks second in the MAAC this season, while her three-meter score ranks third. Siena's top 400 free relay mark of 3:35.82 is currently second in the league. Kalac was honored as the MAAC Women's Swimmer of the Week back on October 26.

Siena and Sacred Heart will face off for the 16th time in program history, with the Pioneers' lone win in the series coming in the most recent meeting on January 18, 2020 (170-126). Siena has claimed victory in all nine home meetings in the series.
