BRONX, NY – Siena Cross Country featured a pair of runners taking home All-Region honors for the first time ever during the teams' season-concluding competition at the 2022 NCAA Northeast Regional Cross Country Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx, New York on Friday.
Women's fifth year Olivia Lomascolo closed out one of the program's most storied cross country careers by placing 19th individually with a time of 21:05.0, while senior Delia McDade Clay secured an All-Region nod by finishing 22nd with a time of 21:08.4. The pair both surpassed the previous team mark for highest finish at an NCAA Division I Regional, which featured Lomascolo placing 53rd individually last season.
The individual benchmarks helped the Siena women record its highest team finish ever at the event at 18th, while the men finished 15th as a team. The previous highest women's team finish was 20th in both 2018 & 2021.
The Siena men were guided by senior Brandon Olden, who ran to a 28th place finish in the 8k with a time of 30:09.1. Classmate Aidan Gillooley finished 94th (31:34.3), while junior Ben Guerin took 104th (31:45.4). Junior Christopher DeForest (115th, 31:57.5), sophomore Jackson Cayward (122nd, 32:02.1), senior Tommy Anderson (136th, 32:12.9), and junior Killian McNamee (138th, 32:14.9) rounded out the seven-person competition team for the men.
Following the record-breaking finishes by Lomascolo and McDade Clay for the women, senior Elaine Atanasova placed 129th with a mark of 22:51.6, while freshman Chloe Poulos took 142nd with a time of 22:57.6. The women's squad was rounded out by junior Katharine Hesler (22:58.8), sophomore Claire Gardner (23:00.9), and freshman Stephanie Queiroz (23:21.9).
After concluding an unprecedented cross country campaign, Siena will turn its attention to the 2022-23 indoor track season, which will begin next month.
