ALBANY, NY – The Albany Cup is BACK! Siena and UAlbany meet for the first time in five years in men's basketball action when the crosstown rivals square off in the Albany Cup presented by MVP Health Care Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at MVP Arena.

The Albany Cup is the feature event of Siena College's Homecoming Weekend, and Siena fans are strongly encouraged to WEAR GREEN to the game to show their support. Siena fans are also strongly encouraged to secure their seats in Sections 105-120 and 207-229, which have been designated as the Siena fan sections for this year's neutral court matchup.

UAlbany (1-1) played on back-to-back nights to open the season, falling at CAA preseason favorite Towson 67-62 Monday night, and winning 74-47 Tuesday evening at Division III Immaculata. The Great Danes, which posted a 13-18 overall record last season including an even 9-9 league mark, were predicted to finish sixth out of nine teams according to the America East Preseason Coaches' Poll. Separated by less than eight miles, Siena and UAlbany meet for the 55
th time since 1940, with the Saints holding a 30-24 all-time advantage. The programs met for 17 consecutive seasons beginning in 2001 in what became known as the "Albany Cup," following the Great Danes' elevation to the Division I level. Siena harbors a 10-7 edge in those matchups, although UAlbany has won five of the past six including a 74-69 decision in the most recent meeting between the programs on Dec. 9, 2017 at MVP Arena.
