The Siena Volleyball team struggled on the road against Canisius on Saturday morning, as the Green and Gold fell 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-16).
Junior Haley Hinkel led the Siena offense with six kills, while
Sara Wagner collected four. Siena had an encouraging return to the floor for sophomore
Olga Sawinska, putting up three kills. Senior
Gracie Halley was strong defensively with 26 digs.
Canisius was led by a 15 kill effort from Taylor Baldwin, while freshman Ella Bourque tossed out 30 assists over the three sets.
Canisius controlled out of the gate and kept their foot on the gas, as the Saints struggled offensively. Siena finished two of the three sets with negative hitting, finishing the match with 23 attack errors and only 20 kills. The opposite would be the case for Canisius, as they supplied 35 total kills and just 10 errors over the three frames.
Both sides were just about even in digs (60-52 in favor of Canisius), but the Golden Griffins supplied 10 service aces to Siena's four.
The Saints return to action tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. when they take on the Niagara Purple Eagles in the regular season finale.
