LOUDONVILLE, NY – A pair of pool records fell at the Siena Swim Center as Siena Swimming & Diving (5-3) continued home action by hosting Stony Brook (2-2) on Saturday morning. The Saints fell in dual meet action to the Seawolves by a score of 157-143 in their second of five home meets this season.
Senior Rory Kalac swam a 24.04 in the 50 free to down the previous pool record o 24.09 set in 2020, while the 400 free team of sophomore Kylie Carter, sophomore Maddie Buck, freshman Kaci Owens, and Kalac turned in a time of 3:35.37 to best the previous pool mark of 3:37.82 set by Siena in 2010. The performances marked the second consecutive week that the Saints set a pool record inside their home facility.
Despite Stony Brook pulling out the dual meet victory by winning eight events, the Saints saw a slew of best times and accomplishments. Junior Audrey Shultz swam to best times while winning the 100 breast (1:07.93), 200 breast (2:24.59), and 200 IM (2:14.24), with her time in the 100 breast keeping her at ninth on the program's All-Time Top-Ten Performance List, while her 200 breast mark propelled her from ninth to third, and under four seconds off of the school record.
Additionally, junior diver Talia Spenziero won the one-meter diving event (271.26) and finished third in three-meter diving (283.12) to qualify for NCAA Zone Regionals in both events, while senior diver Lydia Delano took second in three-meter diving (288.81) to also qualify in that event.
Kalac took first in both the 50 and 100 free (53.07) events, while Buck won the 500 free (5:22.94), and the 400 free relay took home the top spot. Kalac continues to hold the second-best times in the MAAC thus far this season in the 50 and 100 free, while Shultz is now second in the 200 breast, fifth in the 400 IM, and sixth in the 100 breast. Siena's most recent 400 free relay time is good for second in the league this season.
