Saints Take on Defending CAA Champion Delaware Sunday

Siena Continues Stretch of Nine of Eleven Away From Home

NEWARK, DE – Siena Basketball continues its grueling stretch where it plays nine of 11 away from home when the Saints take on defending Colonial Athletic Association Champion Delaware Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Bob Carpenter Center.

Siena (5-4, 1-0) returns to the region after suffering a 75-68 setback at BIG EAST foe Georgetown Wednesday. The Saints have gone 3-3 so far during their tough 11-game stretch, posting neutral site wins over high-majors Florida State and Seton Hall to go along with a home victory over Canisius in the MAAC opener.

Siena will look to have its sharp shooting continue to travel Sunday. The Saints rank 48th nationally shooting a stellar 38.0% from three-point range, led by Andrew Platek who stands fifth in the country connecting at a 52.3% clip from downtown. Additionally, Siena has shot 80.8% from the free throw line over the past six games.

While the Saints return to the road, Delaware (5-4) concludes a season long four-game homestand. The defending tournament champion Blue Hens were predicted to finish third (out of 13 teams) according to the CAA Preseason Poll, with Jameer Nelson, Jr. tabbed an All-CAA Preseason First Team selection. Nelson paces Delaware, averaging 18.8 points.

Siena and Delaware meet for just the eighth time, with the Blue Hens harboring a 4-3 edge. The program's met last season for the first time in 12 years, with the Blue Hens prevailing 83-63 in Albany. Five of the first seven all-time meetings between the programs have been decided by 20 points or more.
