HAMDEN, CT – Siena Basketball looks to send out 2022 with a bang when the Saints conclude the calendar year and resume conference action for good when they take on Quinnipiac Friday at 4 p.m. at M&T Bank Arena.
Â
Fresh off the program's first winning non-conference season in seven years, Siena (7-5, 1-0) will now look to carry that momentum back into MAAC play heading into a conference weekend in Connecticut. The Saints defeated Canisius in their conference opener Dec. 2 in Albany, and are now in search of their third straight MAAC road-opening win. A victory today would also secure Siena's third straight winning December.
Â
Quinnipiac (9-4, 0-2) opened the season with seven consecutive victories to mark the program's best start in 53 years, but have since lost four of six including their first two conference contests. Predicted to finish fourth according to the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll – two spots better than the Saints – the Bobcats return to Hamden today for their only home game during a five-game stretch.
Â
Siena and Quinnipiac meet for the 20
th time, including the 18
th occasion since the Bobcats joined the MAAC in 2013-14. The Saints hold a 12-7 all-time advantage, including a 5-2 mark in Hamden. Siena had won four straight – including sweeping last year's regular season series – before Quinnipiac became the first-ever No. 11 seed to advance to the MAAC Semifinals with a 77-71 win over the third-seeded Saints.
