Siena Rings in New Year Sunday at Fairfield

Saints Look to Build Upon Three-Game Win Streak Heading Into 2023

FAIRFIELD, CT – Siena Basketball looks to carry its momentum over into 2023 as the Saints ring in the New Year Sunday with a 2 p.m. tilt at Fairfield.

Winners of three straight to close out 2022 with a bang, Siena (8-5, 2-0) heads into the New Year looking to complete the sweep of its season long three-game road trip. The Saints are playing for just the fifth time in program history on New Year's Day, and first time in five years.

Fairfield (6-7, 2-1) has bounced back from four straight losses to open the season by winning four of its past five games, coinciding with the opening of the new Leo D. Mahoney Arena. The Stags played their first eight games away from home to open the year, and now conclude a season long six-game homestand this afternoon.

Siena has dominated the series recently vs. Fairfield, winning eight straight and sweeping the regular season series in each of the past four years, while holding the Stags to an average of just 56.3 points. The Saints lead the overall series 46-32, and have won five straight on Fairfield's campus dating back to 1999.
