Swimming & Diving Finishes ECAC Winter Championships Strong

Saints Turned in Four More Top Ten Times

EAST MEADOW, NY – Siena Swimming & Diving can look back on its return to the ECAC Winter Swimming & Diving Championships for the first time in three years with fond memories. The Saints turned in four more top ten times and 18 total personal bests to conclude weekend action at the Nassau County Aquatics Center in East Meadow, New York.

Senior Rory Kalac and junior Audrey Shultz each finished off what amounted to three top ten times apiece on the weekend with one more each on Sunday. Shultz moved up to third in the 200 breast with a time of 2:24.05, while Kalac swam the fourth-fastest time in the 100 free at 52.62. Senior Maggie Caputo and sophomore Shaylea Triller each recorded their first entries on the list, with Caputo swimming to seventh all-time in the 200 breast at 2:26.76, and Triller moving to eighth in the 100 free with a time of 53.04 to lead off the 400 free relay.

The team also saw a smattering of personal best times swam across four individual events, with freshman Brooke Pociask achieving bests in the 200 back (2:13.95) and the 100 free (55.62), senior Ellie Murphy doing so in the 200 breast (2:42.69) and the 100 free (55.94), and freshman Grace Neno doing so in the 1650 free (18:58.71) and the 100 free (57.17).

The 100 free also brought personal best times from freshman Kaci Owens (54.17), senior Elisabeth Balicanta (54.68), senior Reilly King (55.36), freshman Mya Reed (56.43), and junior Natalie Colaizzo (55.79). The 200 breast featured new collegiate bests from freshman Tori Spacciapolli (2:28.38), sophomore Olivia Martin (2:29.97), and sophomore Kylie Carter (2:30.14).

The Saints ended the weekend with their "A" team placing eighth in the 400 free relay, with the group of Triller, Owens, Carter, and Kalac swimming to a time of 3:32.19.

Siena finished in seventh place out of 15 regional programs in the meet with 632 total points, besting MAAC counterparts Marist (11th), Manhattan (12th), and Saint Peter's (15th).

Siena will return to competition in the 2022-23 season on Saturday, January 14, 2023, when it faces the Peacocks and St. Francis Brooklyn in Jersey City.
