Saints in Search of Another Big Win Wednesday

Siena Seeks Third High-Major, Second BIG EAST Victory in Three Weeks

WASHINGTON, DC – Siena Basketball looks to secure its third high-major win in as many weeks when the Saints battle BIG EAST foe Georgetown Wednesday night at Capital One Arena. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. from the Nation's Capital for the nationally televised matchup on FS2.

Fresh off its MAAC-opening victory over Canisius Friday, Siena (5-3, 1-0) returns to non-conference action for the next four games while seeking to make more history Wednesday night. Just two weeks ago, the Saints secured their first high-major wins in eight years, defeating Florida State (ACC) and Seton Hall (BIG East) to claim third place at the prestigious ESPN Events Invitational. Now, with a second matchup against another BIG East squad set, Siena has the opportunity to defeat three high-major teams in the same season for the first time since knocking off Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, and Kansas State during the 1993-94 campaign.

Georgetown (4-5) meanwhile is looking to bounce back following consecutive losses to Texas Tech and South Carolina. Picked to finish 10th out of 11 teams according to the BIG East Preseason Coaches' Poll, the re-tooled Hoyas entered the season ranked as the second-best transfer portal class nationally, according to 247Sports. Georgetown's special assistant is Louis Orr, who led the Saints to a MAAC Regular Season Co-Championship in his lone season as head coach (2000-01), where he coached current Siena Head Coach Carmen Maciariello in his only season playing for the Saints.

Siena and Georgetown meet for the eighth time, with the Saints leading the all-time series, 4-3. The schools met five times in a six-year span from 1949-55. The programs were reacquainted for the first time in 47 years last season, with Georgetown prevailing 83-65 on Nov. 19 at Capital One Arena. Jackson Stormo posted career-highs with 25 points on 10-13 shooting to go along with 11 rebounds for Siena, while former Saint Donald Carey scored 20 points on 7-9 shooting for the Hoyas. Siena snapped an 11-game losing streak vs. the 11 current members of the BIG East with their victory over Seton Hall on Nov. 27.

Dan Kolko and Dr. John Giannini have the call of the nationally televised broadcast on FS2, which is available to Spectrum subscribers in the Capital Region on Channel 401, and can also be found on DirecTV Channel 618 and DISH Channel 149. The game can also be viewed online by clicking the corresponding link or via the FOX Sports app.

The "Voice of the Saints" Emmanuel Berbari and Conner Fenlon '12 have the radio call of the game courtside from Capital One Arena locally in the Capital Region on ALT 104.9 FM and online at alt1049albany.com.
