After a win in their last match on Sunday, the Siena Women's Tennis team dropped their home match on Friday night to the Bryant Bulldogs by a slim margin of 4-3. The match is the first of three straight home matches for the weekend for the Saints.
Despite a win at #2 doubles by
Emma Boggiali and
Maanya Viswanath, the Bulldogs took the doubles point to go up 1-0 early on. In singles,
Meagan Brown would quickly move the score to 1-1 after she finished 6-1, 6-4. Freshman
Laia Giralt would win in three 5-7, 6-1, 11-9 to re-tie things up at 2-2.
Classmate
Jade Gautier would also win at #6 singles to tie things at 3-3 when she took a 5-7, 6-0, 10-8 win. However, the Bulldogs gained the edge at the end as Viswanath would battle it out at #5 singles and fall 7-6 (4), 6-7 (4), 8-10.
The Saints return to action tomorrow, Feb. 19 when they play host to the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers at Tri-City Fitness beginning at 6 p.m. The women will be in action in conjunction with the Siena men's team, as both will face the Terriers.
