WINTER GARDEN, FL – Looking to build off a historic fall campaign, Siena Men's Golf picked up where it left off to begin the Spring 2022 season Sunday at the Veterans Intercollegiate hosted by Bucknell in Winter Garden, Florida.
Through one round of play at the Orange County National course, the Saints are tied with Stetson for second place after shooting +5, 293 as a team. Siena is just one stroke behind Bucknell (+4, 292), with 36 holes left to be played.
The Green and Gold were led by junior Jack Tobin, who carded two birdies to finish -1, 71 in a tie for ninth place individually. Classmates Nolan Crowley and Matthew Ferrari each birdied three times to finish +1, 73 and +2, 74 on the par 72, 7,388-yard course, good for splits for 11th and 16th individual respectively.
Freshman Dan Brooks went for a birdie on the par 4 fourteenth hole to finish at +3, 75 for a split for 20th, while senior Brody Yates rounded out the Saints' five-man competition team with three birdies in a +5, 77 round to end a tie for 31st.
Competing as an individual, sophomore Andy Knoll also went +5, 77 to end split for 31st in his best round of golf to-date.
Siena will look to compete for the top spot in the nine-team field with the continuation of play Monday, February 7 at 9:30 AM.
