“Watts” The Answer

Saints Take Down Red Storm in Final Matchup Before MAAC Play

Senior Christian Watts lit up the twine on Friday afternoon as the Siena Men's Lacrosse team defeated the St. John's Red Storm by a final score of 13-10. Watts scored five goals in the game, in route of the Saints' second straight win over the Red Storm at Hickey Field.
 
Watts day was one-upped by fifth-year Jack Kiernan, as the Ridgewood, New Jersey native scored two goals and dished four assists for a six-point effort. Freshman Pratt Reynolds scored four goals and added an assist, while Seth Van Schepen scored a goal and dished two assists. Goalkeeper Christopher Yanchoris made 17 saves in net in the win.
 
St. John's saw Dylan Willis score a goal with four assists – a team high. Brian Kelly finished his day scoring three goals with an assist, while Patrick Ednie and Jonathan Huber each added two points apiece.
 
The Green and Gold started things off early with a 2-0 lead, led by the opening goal from Sam DiChristina. Both sides played to a 3-all tie after 15 minutes. Siena went on a 3-0 run to open up a three-goal lead in the second, and with that Watts would finish with his hat trick in the first half.
 
Siena continued to keep their foot on the gas in the second half, using a run that featured the Saints scoring five of the six goals. Leading 13-6, St. John's went for four unanswered goals down the stretch to get close, the Saints and Yanchoris ran it down to seal the win.
 
The Saints return to action next Sunday, Mar. 20 when they open up MAAC play against Canisius at 12 p.m.
