The Siena Men's Tennis team broke new ground in program history on Saturday afternoon, as the Green and Gold won a new program-best 10
th match of the season as they topped Bryant by a final score of 4-3.
The Saints create the new mark with just over a month to go in the season, with the match coming down to the final court after being tied 3-3. The Green and Gold fell short in doubles, with only the top pairing of
Dante Russo and
Tomas del Olmo coming out with a victory.
Down 1-0 heading into singles, the top three players – Russo, del Olmo, and
Agustin Suarez – all scored victories to go up 3-1. Siena then dropped the fourth and fifth courts, as the Bulldogs tied the match at 3-3. With freshman
Maxwell Acri still going on court six and the match tied, Acri clinched a win in straight games to seal the victory.
The Saints return to action next Sunday, Mar. 27 at home at Tri-City Fitness as the Green and Gold take on the Merrimack Warriors. The Saints will honor their senior class prior to the start of the match.
