Saints Conclude Regular Season at Canisius Saturday

Siena Looks to Head Into MAAC Tournament on High Note

BUFFALO, NY - Siena Basketball looks to bounce back and conclude regular season action on a high note when the Saints take on Canisius Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Koessler Athletic Center.

Despite a tough 74-52 setback at Niagara to open the annual Western New York trip Thursday night, Siena (15-12, 12-7) enters the final day of the regular season with an opportunity to still secure the No. 2 seed in next week's MAAC Tournament in Atlantic City. The Saints would need a win today coupled with a Saint Peter's home loss vs. Fairfield (1 p.m. tip) to take the No. 2 seed, otherwise Siena would be seeded third with any other scenario.

Canisius (10-20, 6-13) enters play in 11th place and dead last in the MAAC Standings, however the Golden Griffins have won back-to-back contests to gain momentum heading into the MAAC Tournament. Canisius can still be seeded anywhere from 9-11 with a win today, and would be the 11-seed with a loss.

Siena and Canisius meet for the 108th time, with the Saints leading the all-time series 57-50. However, Canisius is 13-6 over the past 19 matchups, and has won four straight in Buffalo, with Siena's last win here coming in 2016. The Saints captured the first matchup between the programs this season 73-65 on Feb. 1 in Albany, behind a 24-point, 13-rebound performance from Anthony Gaines
