The Siena Women's Lacrosse team struggled in the second half as the Green and Gold fell to the Lehigh Mountain Hawks by a final score of 16-11 on Tuesday afternoon.
Lehigh was led by a five-goal effort from Emma Eberhardt on 10 shots. Eberhardt also added four ground balls while Gabby Schneider led the way with a seven-point day with four goals and three assists. Nora Giordano was the other strong player, with two goals and two assists.
Kelsey Lane had the standout showing for the Saints, scoring four goals and dished two assists.
Jordan Bentley and
Nicole McNeely also had three points apiece, both scoring two goals and an assist.
Laura Bonomo added two points with a goal and an assist, with four other Saints scoring at least a point.
The Mountain Hawks flew out to an early lead, pulling out to a three-goal lead mid-way through the first quarter. The Saints fought back to tie things up early in the second quarter as a goal from Kelly Louge put things back to 5-5. Both sides then turned in runs, starting with a Lehigh 4-0 run and ending with a Siena three-goal run.
As it looked the Saints would only trail by one, Lehigh turned in a goal with three-seconds to play in the half to take a 10-8 lead midway through. That momentum would carry into the second half, as the Saints scored only twice in the second half as Lehigh pulled away for the win.
The Saints return to action this Friday, Mar. 11 when they head east to Massachusetts to take on the Harvard Crimson at 3 p.m.
