The defending MAAC Champions will have a chance to go into the MAAC Tournament as the top seed, setting themselves up for the opportunity after the Siena Women's Tennis team topped the Monmouth Hawks by a 4-3 final score on Sunday afternoon.
The Saints captured all of their points from singles play, losing all three courts in doubles play. Senior
Meagan Brown secured a 6-4, 6-3 win at #1 singles.
Maanya Viswanath and
Anastasia Koniaev also collected wins at #4 and #5 singles, with Viswanath taking a 7-6 (4), 6-4 win, while Koniaev took a decisive 6-3, 6-2 win. However, it was freshman
Jade Gautier who clinched the win for the Saints at #6 singles, as she won 6-7 (6), 6-2, 6-2 with the match tied at 3-3 to give Siena the win.
Siena returns to action on Satruday, Apr. 16 at 3 p.m. when they play host to Quinnipiac at Central Park in Schenectady. The winner of the match will be the #1 seed in the upcoming MAAC Tournament.
