LOUDONVILLE, NY – For the first time since the 2005-06 season, the Siena Women's Tennis program has won at least a share of the MAAC regular season title despite a 6-1 loss to the Quinnipiac Bobcats on Friday morning.
The Saints will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming MAAC Championship in West Windsor, New Jersey next Saturday and Sunday. Time and opponent are still to be determined after tomorrow's league slate.
Freshman
Laia Giralt led the charge with two wins on the day, getting a win at #1 doubles with
Meagan Brown and taking Siena lone point at #2 singles. Giralt won 6-1, 6-3 – finishing her day strong. The Saints struggled through the rest of the lineup, as each other lineup spot lost in straight sets.
Siena finishes the regular season 10-11 overall, and a 5-1 mark in league play as they finish in a tie with the Bobcats. Quinnipiac wins the head-to-head tiebreaker with the Saints, and will play as next week's No. 1 seed.
