Men’s Tennis Clinches Spot in MAAC Tournament

Saints to Make First Postseason Appearance in 12 Years

SCHENECTADY, NY – For the first time since the 2009-10 season, the Siena Men's Tennis team will be headed to the postseason, clinching the No. 2 seed in next weekend's MAAC Championship behind a 5-2 victory over the Quinnipiac Bobcats at Central Park in Schenectady.

The win marks the 14th win of the season for Siena, setting a new program record overall. It will also be the highest seed for the Saints in a championship in program history.

Siena began the day strong with two doubles wins to take the 1-0 lead. Agustin Suarez and Matt Nardone paired up for a 6-4 win, while Jose Pablo Davila and Maxwell Acri edged out a 7-5 win. In singles, sophomore Dante Russo set the tone at the top with a 6-3, 6-0 victory. Suarez and Acri also snagged wins in singles, with Acri's 6-4, 6-3 win clinched the match. Darek Kuczynski also took a 6-4, 5-1 win at #5 singles.

The Saints now wait on tomorrow's league slate of matches to see who will end up at the No. 3 seed in their match next Saturday at the Mercer County Tennis Park Center in West Windsor, New Jersey.
