Iona Snape recorded her first career goal in the second half on Thursday night despite the Siena Saints falling to the University of New Hampshire Wildcats by a final score of 2-1.
The Wildcats outshot the Saints 19-7, with a 10-4 advantage in shots on goal. Siena goalkeeper
Angela Fini made a season-high eight saves in net for the Green and Gold. Ella Dudley and Maddy Warren were the pair of goal scorers for New Hampshire.
Both sides played a scoreless first half, as Fini held strong in net facing 11 shots in the first half. However, an awarded penalty kick broke the ice less than four minutes into the second half with Warren scoring the free opportunity to give the Wildcats an early lead. The penalty kick jump started a flurry of scoring in a nine-minute span, with Siena scoring an equalizer less than three minutes later.
Snape's tally came in the 52
nd minute, as she knocked a shot to the bottom right corner on a free ball in the box. With the score now 1-1, New Hampshire jumped ahead once again five minutes later, with Dudley scoring the game-winning goal on an assist from Meghan Guarente. Despite multiple scoring chances in the final 10 minutes from the Saints, the Wildcats held Siena scoreless through the final whistle.
