KENSINGTON, CT – Siena Men's Golf proved that they could pick up where they left off following a record-breaking 2021-22 season on Saturday. Beginning Fall 2022 competition at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate, the Saints set a program record for low round by shooting -6, 278 as a team at the Shuttle Meadow Country Club in Kensington, Connecticut.
The team 18-hole mark, which was broken twice last season, allowed the Saints to end day one of the 36-hole event in fourth place, with Sacred heart (-11), Bryant (-7), and La Salle (-7) ahead in the 17-team field. The weekend's competitors also include MAAC counterparts Manhattan (ninth), Fairfield (T-12th), Rider (15th), and Monmouth (16th).
The Green and Gold were led by graduate student Brody Yates, who tied for the fourth-lowest single round in program history with a -4, 67 to finish the day in a four-way tie for fourth place. Senior Nolan Crowley went for -2, 69 to split for 16th place, while senior Matthew Ferrari and sophomore Dan Brooks each made par by carding 71 to tie for 26th individually. Senior Jack Tobin rounded out the team's competition squad with a round of +5, 76 to finish the day knotted for 73rd place.
Siena's initial competition weekend will conclude with the final round of action at the Lee Memorial Collegiate beginning at 7:30 AM on Sunday, September 11.
