KENSINGTON, CT – Siena Men's Golf concluded opening weekend action by setting a program record for the second consecutive day Sunday, when it took the course at Shuttle Meadow Country Club to conclude the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate in Kensington, Connecticut. The Saints fired a team round of -10, 274 to re-write the team 18-hole round, 36-hole, and low round vs. par program records while finishing the 36-hole tournament in second place.
The Green and Gold finished the 17-team tournament with a 36-hole score of -16, 552 to finish seven strokes behind winner Sacred Heart, and ahead of MAAC counterparts Fairfield (T-6th), Rider (14th), and Manhattan (15th). The team put forth the two lowest team rounds in the program's 77-year history this past weekend.
Three Siena golfers finished the weekend inside the individual top-ten, with graduate student Brody Yates and senior Matthew Ferrari each carding -5, 137 to tie for the fifth-lowest 36-hole individual rounds in program history and tie for fifth individually. Yates shot a round two total of -1, 70, while Ferrari joined program greats Bryan Bigley and Jack Brown in becoming only the third Siena Golfer to shoot a single round of 66 or better with a -5, 66.
Senior Nolan Crowley shot a round of -2, 69 for the second straight day to tie for 10th at -4, 138. Sophomore Dan Brooks finished knotted for 29th by carding a 71 for the second straight day to end at even, 142, while senior Jack Tobin improved seven strokes from Saturday to shoot -2, 69 and finish in a split for 51st at +3, 145.
Siena's fall season will continue next weekend at the Cornell/Temple Invitational September 17-18 at the 1912 Club in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.
