Women’s Basketball Announces Non-Conference Schedule

Four-Game Opening Home Stand, Rematch with UAlbany Highlight Slate

LOUDONVILLE, NY – A four-game home stand to begin the season, trips to Pittsburgh and Vermont, and a Capital District rivalry game back on tap highlight the 2022-23 Siena Women's Basketball non-conference schedule. The Saints are set to play the 11 non-conference contests, with five of their six home dates coming at the UHY Center.

"Our staff has done a great job identifying a solid non-conference slate for our team," said head coach Jim Jabir. "The schedule is set up great for our young squad, and will help prepare them for the challenge of conference play."

Siena's 11-game non-conference schedule includes six home games (including one at MVP Arena), three away contests, and a pair of neutral site contests. Siena will face teams from the America East, Atlantic 10, Ivy League, Northeast Conference, and Patriot League. Prepping the Saints for their season will be an exhibition game against Post University (DII) at the UHY Center on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. Admission for the exhibition is free.

The Saints open their 2022-23 season with four consecutive home games, opening against New Hampshire on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. The four straight home games are the most to start a season since the 2010-11 season when the Saints opened with five straight home games – with four coming at the UHY Center.

Backing up the opening game against New Hampshire is another installment of the Albany Cup in a re-match against UAlbany at the UHY Center on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. The Saints won the last Albany Cup game at the UHY Center back in 2019-20 by a final score of 52-46.

Rounding out the four game homestand is a matchup with St. Bonaventure at MVP Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 5 p.m. that will be the front end of a doubleheader with the Siena Men's matchup with Army West Point later that night, and a matchup against Lafayette on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. The Saints game at MVP Arena will be their first appearance downtown since Feb. 16, 2020.

Siena will hit the road for the first time in late November when they take a trip to Pittsburgh to face Duquesne (Nov. 22) and finish off the week at the TD Bank Classic Tournament hosted by the University of Vermont after Thanksgiving. Siena will play two games in Burlington, opening against Oakland on Saturday, Nov. 26 before facing either Stonehill or host Vermont on Sunday, Nov. 27. Siena has played in the TD Bank Classic twice in their history (2013-14, 2018-19).

Rounding out the Saints non-conference slate are four total games - two games apiece at home and on the road. Siena return to Loudonville for two straight home games between Dartmouth (Dec. 3) and Binghamton (Dec. 5) before finishing up before the holidays with games at Colgate (Dec. 10) and Fairleigh Dickinson (Dec. 21).

The matchup with Dartmouth will be the first since 2005-06, while Siena meets Binghamton for the eighth time overall and third consecutive season. The Saints last hosted Binghamton at the UHY Center back on Dec. 21, 2013 with Siena taking the 49-41 victory. Siena connects with Colgate for the 24th time in program history, and ranks at the most-played non-conference opponent in program history – just behind Vermont (29 previous meetings) in that category. Siena is a combined 27-10 against Colgate and Fairleigh Dickinson.

2022-23 Siena Women's Basketball season tickets starting at $128 ($40 for kids) are on-sale now, and can be secured by logging onto sienasaints.com/tickets, or by contacting the Siena Fan Relations Management Center during traditional business hours Monday-Friday by phone at (518) 487-2202, or by e-mail at sienatickets2@siena.edu. Single game tickets for the Albany Cup women's game at the UHY Center are also available – with prices at $10 for chairback seats, $8 for general admission, and $5 for kids.

The full 31-game 2022-23 Siena Women's Basketball regular season schedule will be completed with the announcement of the 20-game Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference slate, which is expected to be revealed in the coming week.

Siena posted a 10-19 overall record last season, and finished fifth in the MAAC with a 10-10 league mark. The Saints return just five letterwinners while welcoming eight newcomers – including six true freshmen – to a squad searching to build off of their success in Jabir's first year at the helm of the program since 1990.
