Mount St. Mary's scored backbreaking goals in the waning minutes of each half to dash Siena Women's Soccer's MAAC Tournament hopes in a 2-0 setback in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
 
The stakes could not have been much higher for either team entering the final Saturday of the regular season. Mount St. Mary's (6-8-2, 4-4-1) entered play in seventh place in the MAAC Standings, a point clear of Siena (3-9-4, 2-4-3) and a point behind idle Manhattan who began Saturday in the sixth and final MAAC Tournament position.
 
The Mount generated seven first half corners, finally breaking through in 38^th minute when the ball found its way across the goal line off a scrum in front.
 
The final half featured a defensive stalemate until late when a rare Mount St. Mary's second half counter yielded a blast from distance by Taylor Simmons to seal the deal in the 85^th minute.
 
Overall, the Mount held an 11-8 edge in shots while each side attempted seven corners apiece. Annie Bagnall had half of the eight shots for the Saints who were shutout for the first time in eight matches.
 
Angela Fini made four saves for Siena which will miss out on MAAC Tournament action for the second straight season.
 
Klil Keshwar stopped five shots to post the clean sheet for Mount St. Mary's, which leapfrogged the Jaspers into a tie for fifth place in the MAAC Standings, while firmly placing them on the precipice of a postseason berth.
 
The Saints will look to wrap up their season on a high note when they host Iona Wednesday at 3 p.m.
