LOUDONVILLE, NY – The Siena Volleyball team found itself in another competitive battle against a conference opponent, but were befallen by critical errors at key junctures in a four-set defeat to visiting Iona 3-1 (18-25, 25-16, 19-25, 13-25) on Saturday afternoon at the UHY Center.
A big day by the Gaels' Mackenzie Wiggins didn't help matters either as the sophomore outside hitter from Corpus Christi, TX, totaled a game-high 20 kills on a .400 hitting percentage for the match.
The Saints (2-15, 2-5 MAAC) were led by redshirt junior outside hitter
Anny Montano, who had a team-best 12 kills on a .333 hitting percentage, after a one-game absence.
Three other Saints achieved personal career-highs including redshirt junior
Sina Toroslu, who had seven blocks, and freshman libero
Payton Hinkle, who set a new high in digs for a single match with 16.
Freshman
Sonja Meyer notched new highs in both kills with eight and digs with 12.

Claire Isaksen.
Iona wrapped it by winning five of the next six with two more kills from Wiggins to take the third set 25-19.
The Gaels (8-11, 4-4 MAAC) raced out to a 4-0 lead in the third set behind a pair of kills from Wiggins.
After a kill by Iona's Jen Soto made it 6-2, Siena responded back by winning six of the next seven points to take an 8-7 lead courtesy of a Toroslu kill.
Iona had a 5-0 run to recapture the lead including two more kills by Wiggins.
Siena would close the gap as small as a two-point deficit behind a couple of kills by
Sara Wagner and an ace from Hinkle to get within 20-18.
Iona went ahead 5-1 in the fourth set before Siena tied at 5-5.
The Gaels went on a 7-2 run with kills from Morgan Madasz and Ezzie Thompson as well as an attacking error and bad set by the Saints.
