ALBANY, NY – UAlbany scored 20 unanswered points bridging the halves on their way to reclaiming the Albany Cup with an 86-51 decision over Siena Basketball at MVP Arena.

Amar'e Marshall scored 33 points and grabbed eight rebounds for UAlbany (3-3), which has captured six of the past eight matchups. Sebastian Thomas added 14 points and Jonathan Beagle chipped in 13 for the Great Danes who held a 60-24 advantage in points in the paint and 26-1 margin in fast break scoring.

Michael Eley returned from a four-game absence (ankle) to lead Siena (1-5) with 20 points and seven rebounds. The Saints shot just 33% from the field including only 3-14 from three. Â

Killian Gribben tied the score at 23-all on a pair of free throws with 4:35 remaining in the half. But UAlbany scored the final five points of the stanza to take a 28-23 lead at the break. The Great Danes, who shot 71% (24-34) in the second half, then proceeded to score the first 15 points of the final period and pulled away from there.

After having played its previous four games away from home, Siena continues a stretch where they play three of four at MVP Arena when they host Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference preseason favorite Rider in the league opener on Friday at 7 p.m. as part of Siena College Homecoming.
