Saints Seek Strong Finish to Conclude Conference Opening Weekend

Siena Plays Milestone 600th MAAC Game at Mount St. Mary’s Sunday

EMMITSBURG, MD – Siena Basketball looks to complete the sweep of its Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opening weekend when the Saints head south to take on Mount St. Mary's Sunday at 1 p.m. at Knott Arena.

Siena (2-5, 1-0) snapped a five-game losing streak with a hard-fought 67-65 victory over preseason favorite Rider to open the MAAC docket Friday night at MVP Arena. The Saints now look to build upon that momentum heading into the program's milestone 600th MAAC Regular Season game Sunday afternoon. Siena has won 343 MAAC Regular Season contests, which is second most in conference history, despite joining the league eight years after four current members.

The Saints are also in search of their first win outside the Capital Region since a 72-65 triumph here at Knott Arena on Feb. 10. Siena has dropped eight straight away from home, including five true road games. The Saints are just 13-21 in MAAC road openers, but have won three in a row.

Mount St. Mary's (1-5, 0-1) suffered a 75-74 overtime setback in its league opener Friday night at Manhattan. The Mount, which enters play having dropped consecutive overtime affairs, has lost four straight overall with their last three defeats all coming by three points or less. Their other loss came by just nine points on the road at BIG EAST foe Georgetown. Meanwhile, three of the Saints first seven games have been decided by exactly two points, while the other four contests – all losses – have each been by 14 points or more.

Siena is undefeated all-time against their new MAAC rivals, having won all six previous meetings. The Saints swept the first MAAC Regular Season series between the programs last year.

Adam Pohl and Martin Bahar have the call of the game on ESPN+, which can be viewed by clicking the corresponding link. "The Voice of the Saints" Emmanuel Berbari and former Saint Conner Fenlon '12 will have the radio call of the game locally in the Capital Region on JAMZ 96.3 FM, with pregame coverage beginning at 12:30 p.m.
