PROVIDENCE, RI – Siena Basketball takes on its second straight Ivy League opponent this week – and plays its penultimate non-conference contest – when the Saints battle Brown in a Friday matinee at 2 p.m. at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Siena (2-9, 1-1) looks to bounce back and head into the holiday break on a high note, following a 95-74 setback to Cornell Tuesday night at MVP Arena. The Saints received a boost from the newly eligible
Sean Durugordon, who posted a double-double with game-highs of 23 points and a collegiate career-high 15 rebounds in his Siena debut.
The Saints reached the 50-rebound mark for the second straight game at MVP Arena on Tuesday, achieving season-highs in both rebound margin (+16) and offensive rebounds (22). Siena enters today's matchup now ranked 23
rd nationally in offensive rebounding (13.9).
Brown (3-9) returns to the Pizzitola Sports Center for its only home game during a five-game stretch to close out the calendar year, after splitting a pair of road contests against Ocean State rivals Rhode Island and Providence. Predicted to finish fourth in the "Ancient Eight," the Bears are playing for the first time in 12 days following final exams.
Siena and Brown meet for just the second time after previously matching up in a neutral site contest as part of the Philly Hoop Group Classic on Nov. 28, 2009 in Philadelphia. The Saints posted a 99-79 victory that day behind 23 points from Clarence Jackson, and 19 points, 11 assists, and five steals from Ronald Moore in the program's highest scoring output during the Fran McCaffery era.
