BUFFALO, NY – Siena Swimming & Diving ended its week at the 2022 MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships with the program's first MAAC title in 12 years. Junior Talia Spenziero placed first in the one-meter diving event and was named the MAAC Co-Diver of the Meet for the program's first diving title since 2002.
The Clifton Park, New York native scored 202.85 points in Saturday's one-meter diving final round to claim the program's first MAAC title since 2011, and become only the second diver in program history to claim MAAC gold.
Siena claimed sixth place for the second straight season to close the 2023 MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships, taking home 293 points.
Senior diver Lydia Delano claimed her second straight All-MAAC honor by taking eighth place in one-ter diving with a score of 169.15.
The Saints also took home five more top times, with senior Rory Kalac twice besting her 100 free best mark to end the night at third overall with a time of 52.41. Freshman Tori Spacciapoli propelled to fifth all-time in the 200 breast with a time of 2:25.06, while sophomore Olivia Martin entered the list in the event at eighth with a time of 2:26.32. Freshman Brooke Pociask landed on a Top-Ten Performance List for the first time by moving into tenth in the 200 back at 2:11.18.
Kalac took tenth as a MAAC Finalist in the 100 free, junior Audrey Shultz (2:25.24), Spacciapolli, and Martin claimed tenth, 12th, and 15th, respectively, in the 200 breast. Junior Demi Bobarakis took 16th as a MAAC finalist in the 200 fly with a time of 2:11.57, while senior Lauren Ostrander led the way for the Green and Gold in the 1650 free with a tenth place finish and a time of 18:06.59.
The team ended the meet with the group of Kalac, sophomore Kylie Carter, freshman Kaci Owens, and sophomore Shaylea Triller placing eighth with a time of 3:33.29 in the 400 free relay.
Siena concludes the 2022-23 with its most dual meet victories in 11 years and a MAAC diving champion for the first time in over two decades.
