Saints Set to Host Quinnipiac in Primetime Nationally Televised Tilt Friday Night

Siena Enters Pivotal Stretch of Season

ALBANY, NY – Siena Basketball tips off a pivotal second half of February when the Saints host Quinnipiac in a primetime nationally televised showdown on ESPNU Friday night at the special time of 9 p.m. at MVP Arena.

Tickets to tonight's game start at just $10 (service fees apply if purchasing through Ticketmaster) and can be purchased by clicking the corresponding link, in-person at the MVP Arena Box Office, or by contacting Ticketmaster by phone at (800) 745-3000. The Siena Fan Relations Management Center is on-hand to handle all ticket-related inquiries, and can be reached by phone at (518) 487-2202 or by e-mail at sienatickets2@siena.edu.

Siena is set to participate in its second annual Equality and Inclusion Game. The Saints are proud to support Rising Coaches in their mission to support diversity, equality, and inclusion nationwide. Siena will wear their alternate black uniforms to represent unity, and the coaching staff will wear equal sign lapel pins to symbolize equality. More information on the initiative can be found at www.thedeialliance.org.

Siena (17-9, 11-4) kicks off a critical stretch tonight. Each of the Saints' next three games feature teams currently situated in the top-five in the MAAC Standings. Following tonight's matchup vs. fifth-place Quinnipiac (17-9, 8-7), Siena travels to current MAAC co-leaders Rider (Friday) and Iona (Sunday) next weekend. The Saints won their home matchups against both the Broncs and Gaels last month at MVP Arena. Siena enters play tonight just a half game back of both Rider and Iona in the MAAC Standings.

The Bobcats have endured a roller coaster season. Quinnipiac won its first seven games, then dropped five of seven before winning six straight to open January. The Bobcats have since cooled off again, having lost three in a row.

The Saints and Bobcats are set to meet tonight on the fourth anniversary of an historic 107-100 triple overtime victory by Quinnipiac over Siena on Feb. 17, 2019 here in Albany. Quinnipiac's Cameron Young (55 points) and Siena's Jalen Pickett (46) combined for 101 points on that Sunday afternoon, marking the most combined points scored by opposing Division I players in 20 years. Young set both the MAAC and facility single-game scoring record with the third highest scoring output of the 21st Century, while Pickett posted the second highest scoring performance in program history while becoming the first player in 20 seasons with at least 45 points (46) and 10 assists (13) in a game.

Overall, Siena and Quinnipiac meet for the 21st time, with the Saints holding a 13-7 advantage. Siena has won five of six, and is in search of its third straight regular season series sweep of the Bobcats. The Saints have averaged 83.6 points over the past seven meetings, and hit that number in an 83-76 triumph in the first matchup between the squads this season on Dec. 30 in Hamden. Siena exploded for 52 second half points on 58% shooting in the win.

Robert Lee and Terrence Oglesby have the call of the nationally televised showdown on ESPNU, which is available to Spectrum subscribers in the Capital Region on Channel 370, and can also be found on DirecTV Channel 208 and DISH Channel 141.
