LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Water Polo rounded out its home conference weekend by hosting new league foe Mount St. Mary's at the Siena Swim Center in Loudonville, New York on Sunday afternoon. The Saints dropped a 16-9 contest while recognizing five graduating members prior to opening sprint.
The Mount netted three of the games first four goals in the first quarter, but Siena responded by tying the game with back-to-back strikes to begin the second period. Senior
Grace Boeve netted the team's first two goals on her senior day, while freshman
Samantha Varrie also chipped in a goal to knot the game at three with 5:24 remaining in the first half.
Mount St. Mary's proceeded to score five straight goals before Siena freshman
Parker Thomas got on the board on a power play midway through the third quarter. Siena would come within four goals thanks to four total from Boeve and a hat trick from Thomas, but the Mountaineers netted the final three and five of the last seven goals to seal the victory.
The Mount held a 42-33 advantage in shots while committing just five exclusions, with Annefleuer Ten Bloemendal leading the way offensively with six goals. Freshman
Audrey Lacey also scored for the Saints, while senior keeper
Anna Mossakowski made 11 saves in-goal and contributed an assist.
Siena will next head to Lexington, Virginia for three conference contests next weekend against La Salle, LIU, and Wagner.
